Research Overview

Nuevo Amanecer grew out of a desire to provide psychosocial services to Spanish-speaking Latinas with breast cancer. It is the result of ongoing research, collaboration, and generous funding.

 

History

2003-2004

Conducted pilot study consisting of first population-based survey of Latina breast cancer survivors to identify correlates use of cancer support groups.

2005-2006

Collected formative data to evaluate existing psychosocial support services for Spanish-speaking Latinas with breast cancer

2011-2014

Conducted randomized controlled trial with Spanish-speaking Latinas with newly diagnosed breast cancer to test the 8-week version of Nuevo Amanecer
